Laundry Room Storage

My laundry is lacking a lot in the storage area. I've got no laundry room cabinets. What I do have are those Rubbermaid like free standing shelving units that are stackable. I like that I can put my laundry baskets on these shelves and everything fits nicely. What I don’t like is that my detergents, stain removers, etc need a home….right now they are perched on the top of the water heater!

I think this unit would meet my needs….a place for my laundry stuff and for extra cleaning supplies! I like that I wouldn’t have to see these things…they can be hidden! Neat!

Caviar Ack!

I could never ever eat caviar. Really...never. I have no idea what it tastes like and I may just be missing out on the best thing ever, but after seeing this photo (slide 19)...well...I'm sticking with my decision to skip the caviar!

At least these folks are using a surgical procedure to extract the caviar from the sturgeons. Most caviar is extracted from a fish that is killed...and I guess that's not such a terrible thing because the fish is sold for food. I just think the caviar removal surgery is nicer...that way the fish can go back out there and have a bragging scar and such.

Regardless, you won't find this chick eating little eggs that have been poured out of slit from a fish belly...ack!

Free Networking

I have two dear friends who are gearing up to launch their own home-based businesses. I’m very excited for both of them and not only because I get to be the guinea pig and “test” the products! I think it’s wonderful that these two gals are jumping in and creating these businesses…they are going to learn a lot, make some money and just have a bunch of fun!

One of the things they may want to do is some business networking . Of course, I’ll do all the “word of mouse” advertising I can do but it still would probably be a good idea to do some other networking too!

At DirectMatches.com, my friends can sign up for a free membership which will give them a business profile, free advertising and classifieds, and of course, free networking! With over 65,000 members, I bet my friends are going to be able to make some connections.

If you have a small business or if you are like my friends and just launching your business, you might want to check out DirectMatches.com. Since the membership is free, you might as well give it a try.

Just a hint because these gals are not “open for business” yet but one is making lotions, scrubs and such and the other is designing blog templates….you’ll be hearing more from me when I’m given the go-ahead!!

Cool Beans!!

Noah the New Hearted

I came across this Parody Motivator Generator and I just know that it's going to be trouble for me...I easily become distracted with fun things like these! This is supposed to be a "parody" tool but I misused it and made something sweet...the next one I'll do something warped!lol!

This first one I did is of Noah...one of the little guys we've been praying for over at Gus' Gang. He was just a wee little fellow when he received his heart transplant. How cool is that?! A family somewhere out there, made a beautiful choice to donate their baby's organs so that this little sweet pea would have a new chance at life. I'm thankful they made that decision...

I guess you'll have to click on it to read it...

You can read all about Noah over at his blog...Noah's Adventure

NaNoWriMo Get Ready E-mail

Cool Beans! I just got my "get ready" email for this year's NaNoWriMo challenge! I am so excited I can't stand it!! I would love to know who's participating...we can cheer each other on. Last year I had several crazy days and there was a nice gal in Greeneville who cheered me on...I think we both finished our novels. I bet her's was alot better than mine. I tell people that I have a rough, rough, rough draft of a novel!

One of my post NaNoWriMo goals is to take a break and then jump into editing and such. I'm not really sure how to do that but I'll learn....I never thought I would ever write a 50,457 word novel either but I did!!

I would also like a laptop before November so I could escape to Starbuck's and do some writing...I would feel so writerish if I could do that....hint, hint...birthday just around the corner...

Super Bowl 2008

I’ll have to be honest here…I have no plans whatsoever to go to Super Bowl 2008. I’ll probably watch it on tv…and that’s just for the commercials! I know, Sonya…I can hear you now!! It’s a shame, I know…

However, I know there are some of you out there that are planning on making the trip. If you still need to purchase your Super Bowl tickets then be sure to head on over to TicketSolutions.com. You can purchase your tickets online 24/7 and they have a money-back guarantee. Easy Peasy!

Smile!

Come on....I dare you to tell me that this squirrel photo doesn't make you smile really big! If I ever get a chance to take care of a domesticated squirrely squirrel I am so going to take it. We used to go over to the VA Hospital across from ETSU to feed the ducks...I had a friend who would feed the squirrels. Those little critters would come right up to him and eat from his hand...I was so jealous. Maybe one day I can have that "power" over the squirrelys!

Scuba Diving

Do you love to scuba dive??

Pete and I had the opportunity to try out scuba diving when we were in the US Virgin Islands. That was one of the first things to fill up though so we opted for a barefoot cruise instead. Later that evening we heard all about the scuba diving trip and it did sound like a lot of fun. I hate that we missed it but that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes!

If you are completely into Scuba Diving you’ll want to head on over to Scubish.com which is portal for all things scuba diving! You can meet buddies, keep track of all your diving excursions, find new places to dive and much more. Scubish.com was launched in July and there are already a bazillion posts in the forums….tons of information just waiting for you! Neat!

ISBN Numbers

Have you ever jotted down the ISBN number on a book that you needed...or just wanted? I've done this a gazillion times so I could shop around for the best price.

Well, if you are ever at the Harvard Coop Bookstore remember to be very discreet when writing down the ISBNs because apparently they feel that those numbers belong to them...intellectual property rights. Crimson Reading feels that these numbers are in the public domain...I agree!

Crimson Reading is a site where you can go and plug in your ISBNs and do some comparison shopping to find the best deal. Have you all purchased text books lately?? They are like a gazillion bucks each...we just bought around $600 of books for just this one semester! Fortunately, Pete was reimbursed for these books, but there are students who have to pay the full amount out of pocket. Comparison shopping for these folks is a must.

Sheesh-a-moley....I think this whole ISBN thing is nuts! I know that the Coop wants to make money but people have been buying used textbooks for ages and that's just the way it is...period.

by the way...this is not a sponsored post...I was just a little dumb-founded that there were issues with people writing down these numbers...

OK..So I'm Not the Worst Mom in the World!

OK, folks, apparently I'm not the worst mom in the world....this gal is! This mom, Lakechia Woodard, drove her 12 year-old son and two friends to a house where the kiddos proceeded to steal a bunch of rifles! Afterwards, "Mom of the Year" drove them across town to sell their haul.

Police are still looking for this gal....

Cool Desk!

Man oh…just look at this desk! Look at all the space…I could get soooo much done if I had a desk like this. I think I have to be an “executive” though! Lol!! And look at that coffee/tea area…love that part. I could place my sewing machine and my laptop on this desk…it would work, it really would!

Check out office desks for other office desks that are just as neat!

Heavenly Citrus

Wow....that's pretty impressive! We only get things like "Floor Buddy" showing up in our home. Though it was not a divine sighting, we certainly enjoyed looking at him....

Chicken...What Happened Man?

Just up the road from us here in East Tn, lives a man called Chicken. I was gonna root for him to win Survivor-China....but I can't now because he's gone...off...outta there! Sigh....really, Chicken...what happened?? I did think it was a hoot when you yelled out "day-um" when you were voted off!

Now...who in the world am I gonna root for....any suggestions??

My Christmas List

A sewing machine and a laptop….that’s all. I’m giving up on my birthday wish list I posted awhile back…let’s start thinking about Christmas! These are the two things I want…not much, just two things! I’ve made this really easy for my friends and family…I’ve included links to online coupons!!

Let’s start with the sewing machine. Really, folks…I am a genius with a sewing machine and what I have right now just needs to be replaced to fit my skills! Ok, ok…I may be exaggerating just a tad but really, a new sewing machine from JoAnn.com would be really nifty!

Now, to the family members who keep asking me when my NaNoWriMo 2006 novel will be edited, this request is for you! Me needs a laptop to do me’s editing!! Really, you can’t expect me to feel the muse when I’m forced to sit here at the computer desk and work….I need to be able to go to Starbuck’s…the backyard…Taco Bell…you get my drift. This is a NEED folks and I believe that Dell has some of these things….I could be wrong but I think they just might have something I could use!

I’ll be anxiously awaiting “Brown”!! Don’t disappoint me…..

Gilgamesh the King

As we've been studying Ancient History, we've come across some really interesting stories and books. Gilgamesh the King retold and illustrated by Ludmila Zeman is one of those books! This is the first book in the trilogy of Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh was a god-king who was a fierce ruler over his people. His people prayed to their gods for relief from Gilgamesh....and in comes Enkidu, a crazy wild man who lived out in the wilderness. Gilgamesh sent a lovely young woman out into the wilderness to lure Enkidu back to the palace. Enkidu does come to the palace and ends up saving Gilgamesh's life....they become friends and Gilgamesh discovers humanity!

Of course, this is only one version of the epic tale, but I think it's perfect for the younger folk. The illustrations are wonderful...except there's something about the eyes that kind of creep me out...but that's just me! lol! This book was fun to read and was enjoyed by all....there are two other books that we need to read too! You can't leave a trilogy unfinished! Never, ever do that!! lol!!

Here are some Gilgamesh links:

Cribs Recalled

Man, oh, man....check your cribs folks! This just makes me sick thinking about this...thinking about finding my sweet little baby suffocated. I'm thankful that these recalls and warnings are more prevalent now...we can never be too careful...especially when it comes to our little dumplings.

Commercials

What’s your favorite commercial right now? I usually can think of one, but I’m drawing a complete blank…really, I can’t think of a single one that just cracks me up! So where are all the good commercials?? I think they are in the minds of people like us who create all these kooky videos to place on our blogs or websites!

Now, instead of just letting all those cool “commercials” hang out on our blogs, we need to head on over to Black Turtle Media and upload them. Really, because Black Turtle Media wants your work!!! And did I mention that Black Turtle Media is hosting a contest where the winner receives $5000?! Right now, they are wanting video commercials about the iPhone, Halo 3 or Decision 2008. I have an iPhone “commercial” that I was never able to upload where I wanted to so I think I’ll head over and upload it for the contest!

If you are not interested in creating your own “commercials” still visit Black Turtle Media so you can vote on the videos that are being submitted. I’ve watched several and they really are funny….some are just so-so and then there are some that are just sad! Lol!! Nonetheless, it’s fun to watch and then vote!

Neat! I can’t wait to see who wins!!

Creeeepy...but Cool!

I was reading through my college alumni mag I received in the mail today and I found this article about Steven James' novel The Pawn. Apparently, it was released at the beginning of this month...that means I can probably head out this evening and pick it up! WoooHooo!!

I used to scrapbook with Steven's wife eons ago...when I was just starting to scrapbook. I knew that her husband wrote things but I don't think I ever realized that her husband was a writer! In all honestly, I was really surprised when I visited his website (which is so neat!) and he has written like a gazillion things!! Neat, neat, neat....and I just can't wait to get my hands on The Pawn!

Be sure to visit Steven's site....there are tons of resources for bible memorization, games for teens, writing ideas and much, much more! I think I'll be using some of there ideas in school this year...really neat!

I'm glad I didn't toss that alum magazine like I usually do! lol!!

Our Dirtbag Contractor

This is NOT our Dirtbag Contractor! lol! This is one of the guys that can help our Dirtbag Contractor!

I recently wrote a post about home improvements and I had mentioned that Pete and I had not done much in that area. Well, I completely forgot about the whole construction fiasco we experienced last year. I guess I’ve done a good job of burying all the crapola in my mind! Lol!!

Anyway…we hired a nice fellow to add two gables to the front of our house, repair a small place in our chimney and replace our back deck. Everything was going well until….he disappeared. Yep…into thin air, he’s gone. Come to find out the guy has a horrible drinking problem and he’s done this before. So, why do contractors do this kind of stuff…is the job that stressful, really? We were very nice to him….we weren’t picky….even were planning on having a cookout one day to feed him and his guys. In all honesty, we really liked him…

I think now he’s in trouble with several other people and businesses. He probably needs several Criminal & DUI Law Specialists to help him with all the lawsuits that have probably been brought against him. I think that’s really sad…he really seemed to be a neat person. Oh well….live and learn, I guess…

MamaBlogga Quiz

The mom blogger quiz from MamaBlogga
Take the Mom Blogger quiz!

I've just been out surfing around checking out some blogs....not cleaning the den like I am supposed to be doing...and I found a really neat blog named Mamablogga. I've been there before but I had never bookmarked it...not sure why because it's a neat place! Maybe something was on fire...you never know around here...

Anyway....Mamablogga has a neat quiz you can take so scoot on over and see how you do!
