My Favorite Pen

Yep, that's it folks! It doesn't take a lot to please me when it comes to pens. I will always and forever reach for the Papermate basic stick pen when I need to do some writing. Unfortunately, my pens go missing quite a bit. Some end up being used as spikes in the yard. When Milo, our dog, was around, these pens were "good eats"! Really, I wish everyone would keep their hands out of my pen stash...or I guess maybe it's time to find a new hiding place, right?!

I've been using a colored pencil to write with today...and let me share folks...it's crappy!! lol!!

yWriter3..FREE!

Just wanted to let you all know about the program I used last year when I wrote my first NaNoWriMo novel. It's called yWriter3 and has been developed by Spacejock. It's a FREE program so you can download a copy too! Very easy to use and I'm certainly going to be using it again this year!

While you are there to grab your program, be sure to enter to win a signed copy of a Hal Spacejock book! You can also find some articles on writing and publishing. Very neat site!

NaNoWriMo Get Ready E-mail

Cool Beans! I just got my "get ready" email for this year's NaNoWriMo challenge! I am so excited I can't stand it!! I would love to know who's participating...we can cheer each other on. Last year I had several crazy days and there was a nice gal in Greeneville who cheered me on...I think we both finished our novels. I bet her's was alot better than mine. I tell people that I have a rough, rough, rough draft of a novel!

One of my post NaNoWriMo goals is to take a break and then jump into editing and such. I'm not really sure how to do that but I'll learn....I never thought I would ever write a 50,457 word novel either but I did!!

I would also like a laptop before November so I could escape to Starbuck's and do some writing...I would feel so writerish if I could do that....hint, hint...birthday just around the corner...

Tired,,,

VBS is this week.....and I'm already beat!~ What's the deal with that? I think it must be too much stimulation for me because I come home and crash like I've been working for seven days straight!

This year I'm working in a different area...snacks. I have to put together snacks for both the kids and the teachers. I have a great team of people and everyone worked well together. We served grapes and string cheese to the kids and the teachers got veggies, brownies, spinach dip, etc. So, really, it's not that hard...but I'm still wiped out...sigh....I guess I'm getting old! lol!

Tomorrow we are going to be serving the teachers breads and pastries from Atlanta Bread Company. Since ABC bakes fresh daily, they get rid of their baked goods when they close. Isn't that neat?! Mary (who refuses to blog!) arranged all of that...she's neat too! I told her to save me one of those yummy chocolate pastries...those are my favorite.

In a little while, Pete and I are going to a writer's workshop being hosted by a local author. She'll be sharing with us all the ins and outs of writing and getting published. She said that she would be available to read and critique but I'm not quite there yet....I pretty much know that my NaNoWriMo novel is not ready to be critiqued because I haven't actually started on the first draft! lol!!

I'm tired....I need a nap.....

Face Maker

I had a lot of fun with this too...I think this would be neat for writers to use...you could go in and create different characters, print them out and pin them up in your writing area. Of course, if you're not a visual person like me, this would probably drive you nuts! Another good idea is to use this with your children. They could create all kinds of characters for their creative writing stories! Of course, proportion and placement can be taught with this tool also....apparently I need some instruction in that area! I really like the Conan O'Brien hair-do....

Fiction Friday

I found a neat blog last night called Write Stuff. The blog is chocked full of great posts about writing and activities to get the creative juices flowing. I would love to write but I stink at it....the only way I know to change that is by practicing!

I was thrilled to see a Friday Fiction meme and I immediately set out to write my piece. I was told to write about the first thing I thought of when I saw this statement: "Bad news cures all things...". Well, I wrote a pretty good little piece about someone dying...I know, it's morbid but lets think creativity here! lol!! Anyway....I'd love to share it with you but I've been censored by my husband! Can you believe that!! Here I am just trying to hone my writing skills and I get censored....does it really matter that it was about a dearly beloved member of the family???

Sheesh.....
