This Tough Ol' World

OK, folks, really….I can understand why and how people can become addicted to drugs and alcohol. It’s because this ol’ world is tough. I mean, there are days that seem like one thing after another is hitting you…attacking you. After awhile, you want to escape it all and you turn to drugs and alcohol.

Well, there are better ways to take care of your problems and healthier ways to take care of your stress. You can choose not to let your problems get the best of you by refusing to have a bad attitude or by trying to find the “silver lining”. That’s hard though…it’s one of those things that is “easier said than done”!

For those of you that have chosen to let drugs and alcohol be the things that save you from despair, you know that they have done just the opposite. Drugs and alcohol have made your life even worse…not only your life, but the lives of your friends and family too. It’s just a mess…you’re a mess and that’s not how God intended you to live life. Really, you are worth more than that!

If you have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol and you need help then you will want to check out a Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center. Hopefully, by checking yourself into a center, you will get the help you need to conquer your addiction and start treating yourself better. Remember, you are worth it!

Second Chances

I was just thinking about how God gives us second chances all the time. In fact, each morning there are new mercies. I know that it is very easy to be judgemental of those who have problems…especially those who have addictions to drugs and alcohol. I think it’s mainly because their actions are so obvious and can be seen. In all honesty, none of us are perfect and we all struggle with something…with some kind of addiction and we all need second chances. I would hate to think that if I were in trouble and needed help, that people would be judging me instead of getting me help. That’s really sad and I feel for those people who experience this kind of treatment.

I have noticed that a lot of the rehab centers are very nice and decorated beautifully. I think it’s wonderful that these addiction treatment centers do this because I really feel like people with drug and alcohol addictions should be treated to this kind of atmosphere….mainly because I think that a lot of the people who are struggling with addictions feel they are not worthy of this kind of treatment. They have such low self-esteem and that is probably why they have such addictions. I’m not saying that a “tough love” kind of approach is not necessary, I’m just saying that something little like having a beautiful room to sleep in can make a difference and make these people feel worthy of love and respect…which in turn can encourage them to work toward breaking their addictions!

It’s my hope that all of us can be just a smidge more understanding of people with addictions and a lot less judgemental of them. We all need to remember that we are given second chances every single day and don’t you think these hurting people deserve a second chance also? I do!

Cliffside Malibu Drug Rehab

I went to middle school with a guy who ate crickets and drank lighter fluid. Really, I did! Everyday, we would have a break from school and all the classes would go out to the kickball field. Some of us would play kickball, some of us would sit around and gossip and then there was one of us that would catch crickets, eat them then take a swig of lighter fluid. Sadly, this guy was very popular and this brought him even more fame!

Fast forward quite a few years. Are you wondering what happened to the cricket-eating, lighter fluid-drinking guy? Well, he’s been in and out of jail several times and he is not in great shape! Surprise, surprise…he is addicted to drugs in a big way. I think he had a rough life growing up and certainly has had a rough time as an adult…but he is an adult now and it’s time for him to make a change. I just hope he knows that….

There are many places he could go for drug rehab. If I could pick a place for him, I would send him to Cliffside Malibu for treatment. The facilities there are just beautiful and I think the peaceful atmosphere would be good for him. He’s an athletic guy so I know he would really enjoy the workout room! Going through drug rehab is not a vacation though…it’s hard work. The staff would work with him to develop a program designed specifically for him. He would be counseled and encouraged and if he’s willing he would recover from his addiction to drugs.

It would make my heart glad to see him get the help he needs. Other than eating crickets and drinking lighter fluid, he was a pretty cool guy!

Get the Help You Need..

Addiction can happen to anyone. It is devastating to the person who is addicted and to his/her friends and family. Unfortunately there is not one formula that can help everyone heal and recover from addiction. Each of us is different and therefore we need different treatments and programs that are created specifically for us as individuals.

So how do we find which drug rehab programs would be best for our different situations and personalities? We can go to the phonebook and randomly pick a treatment center…we can ask others for suggestions….or we can call 1-800-nodrugs.com. This organization is a non-profit referral service that will work with you to find the best treatment center for you or your loved one. This referral service is both free and confidential.

If you or someone you know needs some help with addiction, give this referral service a call today…
