Plea for The Police

Are you one of the lucky ones who has been to see The Police on their Reunion Tour? According to Ticketmaster, The Police Reunion Tour was the top selling event in the first half of 2007. That’s not really surprising is it?? Unfortunately, the tour is not coming anywhere near us and that’s a complete bummer.

So, since I can’t go to the concert, don’t you think someone should buy me a copy of The Police compilation cd? I mean really, I need a copy because I sound so much better when I’m singing “Roxanne” with the group than by myself…for some reason, I just don’t sound as good. So, I’m going to beg my husband for the cd:

My Dearest Pete,

Will you buy me the new Police CD? I will clean the house the entire time the cd is playing…well…I’ll clean through half the cd. And you know that cool vintage Police poster I told you about? Well, what if I make a promise not to hang it on our bedroom wall? What do you think..huh…well….will you get me the cd??? Puuuuh-leeeez, I’ll wait patiently…well sorta patiently…for your answer! Don’t let the continuous playing of this cool 30 second tv spot from the UK featuring The Police surprise you…I just thought it would be a nice reminder for you…kinda like a string around your finger!

Your Loving Wife,

Jenny

I Hate to Read!

I hate to read!!

Do you hear your child saying this? I have! Maybe it’s time we consider checking into the summer programs available at Score.

Score has professional tutors who will work one-on-one with your child to determine his strength and weaknesses. These tutors also help your child set attainable goals which help with motivation and confidence. There are programs available in reading, math, writing skills, study skills and early learning.

Reading Tutors sessions are available at many different times which would be great for us since we are super busy right now. There are also several summer camps available. I think Score is certainly worth looking into if you think your child needs a little extra help in these subjects!

Shower Curtains for Education!

We’re studying Chemistry over the summer. I just started talking to the boys about the Periodic Table of Elements and we’ve started making element cards to list the facts about the different elements.

Today, I found these completely neat shower curtains! Of course, you know that I am really digging that Periodic Table of Elements one! Well, actually, I think they are all neat! The Metamorphosis one reminds me of Click and Clack though…

(Burlingame, Calif.) – June 6, 2007 – All hail the Queen! CoverGirl Queen Collection Cosmetics and mobile entertainment pioneer Limbo 41414 team up to offer a one-of-a-kind prize package fit for a queen! Limbo will host three separate month-long Limbo games – aptly entitled “Every Woman is a Queen” – that will provide aspiring royals a chance to win a trip for two to see Grammy and Oscar-nominated hip-hop artist Queen Latifah perform live in concert this fall, sponsored by CoverGirl and American Airlines. In addition to this crown jewel of a prize, the three lucky grand prize winners will also receive an autographed copy of her upcoming jazz-inspired album Trav’lin’ Light (in stores September 25) plus a year’s supply of the CoverGirl’s bestselling Queen Collection cosmetics! Plus, as if living the life of royalty weren’t enough, Limbo will award additional prizes daily, including copies of Queen Latifah’s eagerly anticipated new album and samples from the Queen Collection. The first of the three games is now live, and all mobile users have to do is simply text message the word QUEEN to 41414 or visit www.41414.com to play online.

Limbo is an addictively fun game – played via text messaging on a cell phone or online. Limbo is distinct from any other experience in that the winner is the person that picks the lowest number that no other player picks, or the lowest unique number. It encourages players to stay highly engaged during each round as they receive comments and tips regarding their picks (e.g., “you’re the lowest unique,” “your pick is unique but not the lowest,” etc.).

Since launching in January 2006, Limbo has rewarded more than 650 Limbo winners, awarding more than $530,000 in prizes. To learn more about Limbo and see all of the current live Limbo games, visit www.41414.com.

Queen Latifah has shined as the official spokesperson for Covergirl’s Queen Collection cosmetics since 2006. Hailed by the hip-hop world and by Hollywood, Queen Latifah first made a name for herself in 1989 with the groundbreaking hip-hop album All Hail the Queen, establishing herself as the first female rapper to become a bona fide star. In the years since, her popularity has transcended all forms of media, thanks to her crossover success in such hit films as Jungle Fever and Chicago, in which her role as Mama earned Queen Latifah both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. In 2004, the artist returned to her musical roots to release a jazz collection of standards entitled The Dana Owens Album, which included collaborations with Herbie Hancock and Al Green. This September’s Trav’lin’ Light will further showcase Queen Latifah’s musical talents and passion for jazz.

Touring the United Kingdom

We keep on getting Rving brochures and dvds in the mail and I just figured out why!

Just a few days ago I wrote about how Pete is addicted to planning our Florida vacation and he orders all this info to be sent to us. Well, he is obviously doing the same thing with RVing because we are getting those brochures too! Lol!! I mean really, how can I complain? I’m thrilled that he wants to take us on a vacation and RVing would be completely cool!! I have never travelled in a Motorhomes and RV's but I’m sure I would love it!

Instead of Rving around Florida though, I want to roam the United Kingdom! There are several places that I would love to visit…starting with the Channel Islands. Of course, we’d have to park our RV and take a ferry around to the different Islands. Afterwards we could hang out in our RV and relax and talk about all that we had seen.

Next I would like to visit Herefordshire so I could see Hampton Court. I have taken the online virtual tour but I really need to visit in person! In fact, I think I would just like to travel around to see all the castles in the UK…that could be the theme of our trip. Sounds romantic too doesn’t it?!

So, Pete…when are we going??

FREE Bad Breath Bible

Have you heard that scraping your tongue helps take care of bad breath? Well…according to the Free Bad Breath Bible from TheraBreath, scraping does not help one little bit! Gee whiz…it sure does feel like it should be helping in some small way!

So, now I’m curious. What does take care of bad breath and just what does this Bad Breath Bible say about morning breath? Is there something that can be done to avoid morning breath all together? Wouldn’t that be great!!

Fortunately, right now we can download the Bad Breath Bible, which retails for $9.99, for absolutely FREE! Go now to get your copy!!

Wonder what is written about coffee breath???

Paint Your Life!

Are you looking for a unique and personal gift? If so check out this site that offers photo to art paintings!

With Paint Your Life, you upload your photo and pay just 20% down. I was very surprised at the prices of these paintings…I figured they would be sky-high but they are quite affordable!
After your painting is completed, a photo will be uploaded to the website and you can approve it before paying the balance due. There are several galleries to look through…it is so amazing how people can paint an almost exact duplicate of a photo. It’s extreme talent!
Wouldn’t one of these paintings be good for a wedding anniversary or a special birthday? Really neat!

Marble Countertops

For years, I have thought it would be wonderful to have marble counters. I love the look of the marble with all the different shades of color and I like that it is very durable. You can use marble on kitchen countertops, bathroom counter tops, Jacuzzi surrounds, fireplaces and bar tops. I have an old dresser that I think would look great with a marble top on it…it would be a great island for my kitchen!

There are a lot of different granite stones available. To me, Stone Selection would be the hardest part of the process! Fortunately, Marble.com has just the tools to help out! This site is chocked full of information that is needed to make a good decision about which type of marble would be best in which setting. I especially like all the galleries this site offers. Sometimes it is hard for me to visualize what a certain pattern or texture would look like so you can imagine how excited I was to find the 3D Showroom! With this downloadable program, I can design my own kitchen! Not only is this program extremely helpful it’s completely fun too! I mean really, how much easier can it be to chose the perfect marble for your home?

Plan on spending some time at this site….there’s a ton of information and photos to look through!

PayPerPost Rocks Again!

Most of you all know that I originally started posting through PayPerPost because I needed money to buy our school curriculum for this coming year. Those of you who homeschool know what kind of expense this can be! My goal was to make $300…if I was lucky! Well only after a few weeks I had made $300 plus some! I am continuing to work with PayPerPost because I can easily earn some extra money to help out our family while my husband is in school. I am thoroughly pleased with my experience at PPP and I would recommend it to anyone! And if you are an advertiser, you really do need to look into PayPerPost...they have a huge blogger outreach and you are certainly going to be able to advertise your product or service through quite a few different blogs!

This morning it was announced that PayPerPost had received 7 million dollars in funding!!! So what is Ted Murphy and his crew doing to celebrate this funding? They have launched the Lucky Seven's promotion. Between noon today and noon on next Tuesday, they will be offering ad opportunities that pay $10.77, $70 and even $700!! These opps are open to EVERYONE!! If you take the $10.77 offer it doesn’t eliminate you for the $70 offers of the $700 offer! This is a completely cool promotion!! I will certainly be watching for that $700 opportunity!! That would take care of our curriculum for awhile!!

See folks, this is why I love working with PayPerPost! It’s just so much fun earning money!!

Following is the Press Release about the funding:

The PayPerPost Revolution Accelerates, Sponsored
Blogging Marketplace Secures $7 Million Series B

Draper Fisher Jurvetson leads round and joins Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL – (June 12, 2007) – PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers and other consumer content creators, today announced it has completed a $7 million second round investment led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, an investor in the company's Series A and one of the world’s leading high-technology venture capital firms. The financing brings the total amount of capital raised by PayPerPost to over $10 million, giving the company considerable resources for further development as the industry’s leading Consumer Generated Advertising marketplace. Additional participants in the round include existing investors Inflexion Partners and Village Ventures as well as new investor DFJ Gotham. With this investment, DFJ Managing Director Josh Stein also joins PayPerPost’s Board of Directors.

PayPerPost created this exciting new advertising space and has established itself as the industry leader,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Although we’ve only used a portion of our first round capital, this added support from investors unlocks significant growth potential. Our content creator and advertiser ROI metrics clearly demonstrate the upside for PayPerPost’s model. We intend to use this capital to build the infrastructure, visibility and professional expertise necessary to reach and retain a greater network of advertisers and content creators than ever before.”

Since its founding in June of 2006, PayPerPost has signed more than 6,500 advertisers to its groundbreaking service, which has enabled Consumer Content Creators to be compensated for their efforts discussing specific companies, products or services via blogs, videos or other media. The content creators are required to disclose relationships with advertisers on their blog, providing transparency for the end reader. Over 125,000 Internet postings, most in the form of blogs, have already earned money for their creators through PayPerPost’s innovative marketplace. PayPerPost recently released PayPerPost Direct, a disruptive new service that allows advertisers to contract and negotiate directly with individual bloggers they identify through a safe, managed system.

PayPerPost has laid a strong foundation for the future,” noted Tim Draper, founder and managing director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. “It continues to attract a critical mass of participants from both the advertising and blogging communities. Analogous to Overture’s sponsored search model, we believe PayPerPost’s business model holds disruptive potential and will enable the company to thrive in the evolving paid-content arena.”

To mark the $7 million dollar funding, PayPerPost has launched a new website detailing the company’s service offering at http://www.payperpost.com. Bloggers and advertisers can easily sign up at the site and begin leveraging the self service marketplace.

Spy Sweeper Would Have Been Nice...

Minding my own business... surfing the net... clicking on some ads to make some money... bam all of a sudden, I’m infected with spy software.

My DH and my kids had turned off the old virus protector in an effort to load a nintendo wi-fi unit. My computer was locked down. We tried to clear it up but a hardware problem was affecting the power at the same time. We ended up getting a new computer to fix our problem. I wish I knew about Spy Sweeper before all of this happened.

Spy Sweeper is a comprehensive protection software that can literally save the day ( and the computer). Check out their website... they have won over 40 awards from computer magazines.

As more malicious and disguised spyware software infiltrates our web and homes it is important to have something we can depend on to protect our computers. I don’t know about your house but at mine we use the computer a lot. Pete, the kids and myself all use it for school. Pete pays almost all of our bills and does our banking. I use it for blogging and money making. The computer is something we really can’t do without.

SpySweeper gives peace of mind and keeps our private business private.

Debt Help

Are yo in debt??

Pete and I have been in major debt before and we have needed debt help…fortunately we are not there right now and we are doing everything we can to not return to the land of debt! It is hard though and tough decisions have to be made. We have both realized that there are things we NEED and then there are just things we want really bad! It’s hard to pass those wants over but that’s what we are striving to do…in time, we are hoping that with good money management we will have the money to purchase some of our wants!

Here at this site there are quite a few articles that are interesting. Two articles that I found helpful were “The Personal Loan… and “The Cost of Christmas…”. If you are interested in learning more about debt management then you need to check out these articles!

Picking Summer Camps

What do you have planned for the summer?

Lately, Pete and I have been looking into different summer programs for the kids. We want to send them to camps that are both fun and educational.

Earlier today I found out about SCORE Summer Programs and I’m excited to see that there is a Writing Skills summer camp scheduled! If Writing Skills is not what you are looking for there is a Study Skills camp available too. I think both the boys would really benefit from attending either one of these camps!

Be sure to check out SCORE’s Summer Learning Tips and the great “recommend readings” in the sidebar. The list rotates so be sure to look more than once!

1408-The Movie! Creep Me Out!!

Yowsie!

Have the seen the trailer for 1408 Movie?? I am completely and thoroughly creeped out which I have a feeling is just what the producers of this movie wanted!! Now, I’m not a big fan of horror films but this one really looks good. I think the fact that this movie is based on a short story by Stephen King makes a huge difference. I mean really, has there ever been one of his stories that has not creeped you out even a little…well, the movies based on his stories are just the same!

In 1408 Movie, the main character (John Cusack) is a novelist who has written several books that discredit paranormal events. For his next writing project, “Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms” he has decided to stay in suite 1408 in the notorious Dolphin Hotel. Of course, Suite 1408 is so incredibly and insanely haunted that the manager of the hotel (Samuel Jackson) tries to convince Cusack to not stay there, but nooooooooo, Cusack decides to stay because…well…he just doesn’t believe anything will happen! Jackson tells Cusack that he will be the first person in years to stay in Suite 1408 and that no one has lasted even an hour. Cusack checks in and goes to Suite 1408 which looks like a plain ordinary ol’ hotel room….but it’s not!!

Creepy, creepy, creepy!!

Favorite Police Song...Well..Songs!

Win a New York fly-away to see The Police live

So what is your favorite song by The Police??

There are several songs I like really well that are on the new police cd but I think my top pick would be “Roxanne”! It’s a fun song to sing along to...especially the “Roxanne” part! Who cares if you are singing about a prostitute! Lol!! Of course, my version of this song sounds quite like Eddie Murphy’s rendition!!

Oh, and then there’s “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”….the video for this song is what launched my crush on Sting! And I just remembered “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”…I love how the chorus gets faster in this song…in fact, I think this is one of the things that makes The Police’s music unique. This and of course, Sting’s voice! I like that he doesn't seem to be straining when he sings...that's important! lol! I think it’s great that they have a new police cd available with all these great songs!

Of course, I’m not the only one who likes The Police. There are quite a few cover bands that play their songs and even a few big names have covered songs like “Every Breathe You take” and “I’ll Be Missing You”. It’s obvious that The Police’s music has influenced a lot of people and even other performers.
