Pete's Current Clinical

Pete has been doing his Psych clinical these past few weeks and I’ve heard some pretty interesting things. It is amazing what drugs and alcohol can do to people! At the hospital where he is doing his clinical, they have several drug rehabilitation programs in place. Of course, Pete has had to sit in on several sessions and has gotten to see quite clearly the devastation that drugs can reap.

It’s really sad, but fortunately there are places out there that can help people who are in trouble. I still think Pete is interested in working in the NICU or PICU though….and I think this Psych clinical has made that even more clear.

Poor Britney...Really

There are just some people who really struggle in this life, ya know? I was reading about Britney car shopping while wearing her 2004 wedding dress….gee whiz. She is in need of some serious help. Not just because she wore her wedding dress…it was a mini dress so it’s not that out of place, but it’s one thing after another…all the time. Obviously, drug rehabilitation hasn’t worked for her. Dr. Phil wasn’t good for her. Shaving her head didn’t seem to help…though I will have to admit that I’ve thought of doing the exact same thing in the dead of summer when it’s 5000 degrees!

It’s just sad….go ahead, bash me for feeling sorry for her…I can take it…I’ll just shave my head or something…

In Trouble Again....

I don’t really keep up with all the celebrity gossip and who’s been out partying and such, but I have kind of kept up with Lindsay Lohan. It makes me sad that just a short time after being released from her addiction treatment in Malibu, she has been arrested again. I know a lot of people don’t feel sorry for her but gee whiz, I mean really, it is such a sad thing. I loved her in Parent Trap….she was so cute. She still is a pretty girl but if she continues on the path she is on, she won’t be for long. One can only abuse drugs for so long before they just start to completely deteriorate both physically and mentally. I wouldn’t wish this kind of downward spiral on anyone.

Regardless of the when, where and why, addiction is a terrible problem and seems to be rampant among young people. If it’s not alcohol then it’s narcotics. We are also hearing a lot about prescription drug addiction. It just seems like a lot of these young people are managing to ruin their lives and their careers. I just hate to see someone destroying themselves like this. I also think it’s sad that she doesn’t seem to have a lot of support other than a handful of friends. At least Paris had the support of her family when she was in trouble.

Obviously, the rehab center she was in was not the best one for her. Not that this particular drug treatment center is not good, in fact, I would think that they would be very equipped to deal with actors. I have always wondered how you can actually know that an actor is rehabilitatedcouldn’t she just “act”! I probably would!! I think it would be good for Lindsay to find a rehab center that is in another state. There are quite a few facilities out there and they are easy to find through a referral service.

Cliffside Malibu Drug Rehab

I went to middle school with a guy who ate crickets and drank lighter fluid. Really, I did! Everyday, we would have a break from school and all the classes would go out to the kickball field. Some of us would play kickball, some of us would sit around and gossip and then there was one of us that would catch crickets, eat them then take a swig of lighter fluid. Sadly, this guy was very popular and this brought him even more fame!

Fast forward quite a few years. Are you wondering what happened to the cricket-eating, lighter fluid-drinking guy? Well, he’s been in and out of jail several times and he is not in great shape! Surprise, surprise…he is addicted to drugs in a big way. I think he had a rough life growing up and certainly has had a rough time as an adult…but he is an adult now and it’s time for him to make a change. I just hope he knows that….

There are many places he could go for drug rehab. If I could pick a place for him, I would send him to Cliffside Malibu for treatment. The facilities there are just beautiful and I think the peaceful atmosphere would be good for him. He’s an athletic guy so I know he would really enjoy the workout room! Going through drug rehab is not a vacation though…it’s hard work. The staff would work with him to develop a program designed specifically for him. He would be counseled and encouraged and if he’s willing he would recover from his addiction to drugs.

It would make my heart glad to see him get the help he needs. Other than eating crickets and drinking lighter fluid, he was a pretty cool guy!

Drug Rehab

You know, almost everyday we are hearing about another celebrity checking into a drug treatment center. It has almost become a common thing in this day and age.

To the addicts themselves, it is not so trivial! Addiction is a terrible thing to go through and I really admire those who can admit they have an addiction and seek help.

There are quite a few drug treatment centers out there so choosing the right one can be hard. I would think you would want to get your treatment at a center that employed people who had actually gone through addiction themselves. It’s so much easier to open up and actually heal if you are talking with someone who has “been there, done that”. I mean really, how can some one relate to addiction if they haven’t actually experienced it!!

Fortunately, I haven’t had the need for a drug treatment center. If I ever do, I would want to use a center that cares deeply and truly understands what I am feeling!
