Missing Hyacinth

I miss Hyacinth...wasn't she so cute?? I have a new hamster now...Big Sug is her name. She's supposed to be friendlier than Hyacinth but so far she is not. Don't get my wrong, she is nice but certainly not as snuggly as Hyacinth...in fact, I think Big Sug has hamster ADD. She will not stay put in my pocket and she doesn't like to hang out on my shoulder while I'm working on the computer....sigh....she just not Hyacinth....

Is It OK to Bathe A Hamster?

Well...no, it's really not ok to bathe a hamster! Even though this ham got the full spa treatment, it's highly discouraged. I didn't know this at the time, but now I do and Hyacinth will never ever be bathed again...no matter how stinkin' nasty and greasy she looks!

Hamsters are really good at cleaning themselves and should only be bathed if they have something toxic on them that could be ingested. When you bathe a ham, you are removing some of the essential oils that are needed to keep the little thing's fur and skin healthy. Often, hamsters die from bathing because their body temperature has been lowered and they catch a chill. I wrapped Hyacinth in a little crocheted dishrag...just like you do a newborn...awwww how cute!

We did all the wrong things when we gave Hyacinth her spa experience! Next time I'll get some chinchilla sand for her to roll around in...I've read it's much better and far less likely to kill her!

Burn Notice

I learned something new today. When spies get fired, they don't get a phone call or a pink slip...they get burned! Here's the official definition:

BURN NOTICE (bûrn nō'tĭs) n.

1. An official statement by one intelligence agency to other agencies, domestic or foreign, that an individual or group is unreliable.

On June 28th, we're going to get to see USA Network's Burn Notice . It is a show about an agent, Michael Westen, who received a "burn notice". He has no idea why this has happened and ends up moving back to Miami. Since he has basically been black-listed, he has to depend on his special ops skills that he has learned in order to help those who the police can't or won't help. Of course, all of his "spying skills" are being used to fund his personal investigation into why he was burned in the first place.

Be sure to check this new show out on June 28th at 10/9c on the USA Network. In honor of this premier, we are sharing our Hyacinth with the Kanzashi Flower Ham Cam...maybe Michael Westen will be able to use our special spy cam in one of the upcoming episodes!
