I Thoofed My Post!

If you haven’t been to Thoof yet, you really need to go!

I just submitted my first post, the one about bathing Hyacinth, and it was super easy because I used that nifty “thoof it” button I added to my bookmark toolbar a few days ago. In all honesty, I’m not sure if it’s something people will want to read but I thought someone out there might like to know that hamsters should not be bathed! If I can save the life of one hamster then it’s been worth it! Lol!!

If you scroll down to the post about Hyacinth, you’ll see that I’ve added a ThoofRank badge to the bottom of the post. This badge tells how interesting my post is to people who are interested in similar stories. When you first submit your post, your badge ranking is low but as time passes you’ll see that the ranking has gone up. The more people who view your post then the higher your rank goes.

Even though it’s really easy…and fun…to submit posts and articles the thing I like most about Thoof is the personalized news that awaits me when I sign-in! This is such a huge time saver for me…I no longer have to wade through articles that are of no interest to me!

You really nead to visit Thoof and see for yourself! Neat!!

Thoof

Have you been to Thoof yet?

If you haven’t, you’ll want to head over there and check it out! Basically, it’s a site where you can get personalized news based on your interests. There are several different ways that thoof is able to tell about your preferences. For example, after you read a story, you have an option to click “not interesting” and this will help Thoof identify news stories that you will find interesting! Smart Thoof!

Anyone can submit a story to Thoof. In fact, it’s super easy to submit stories when you drag and drop the “thoof it” button onto your bookmarks toolbar. All you have to do is click the “thoof it” button to submit…easy peasy!! You are also able to make improvements to any of the stories just by clicking the “improve” button. Once you’ve added new information to a story, others get to vote if they agree that the additions are correct and if they are pertinent to the story. You can tell if a story has been improved because there will be an asterisk beside the “improve” button.

You can also “hide” stories you don’t want to read, e-mail stories to your friends and click on tags to get similar stories. All of your read stories are kept under the “My History” button and you can view these at any time.

I think this is a neat way to get just the stories I want. It’s such a time-consuming task to have to sort through articles that are of no interest to me. I also like that I can submit articles! Neat!

Threatened Bumbleebees!

I had no idea that bumblebees were considered “threatened”!

I was over at a personalized news site that I had just found out about and I had searched for “organ donation”. In all honesty, I’m not even sure what results were pulled up because I honed in on an article about bumblebees: The Bumblebee Conservation Trust . This search led me to an interesting site that has tons of information about bumblebees and their conservation. I wish I were a better gardener so I could create a lovely bumblebee habitat but alas, my thumb is black!

I also searched for “octopus” and found an article on an “octisquid” that had been found in Hawaii. Now that is cool! Apparently, this creature is part squid and part octopus….interesting!

I really like reading articles about animals, especially interesting ones. What is neat about this new site is that my preferences will be logged so that when I visit again I will have a page of articles that fit my interests. That means saved time for me because I won’t have to sift through articles that are of no interest! Another neat feature of this site is that you can submit your own articles for others to read.

I’ll be checking this site often since it will be such a time-saver for me!
