If It's Numbers....
Seriously, I have to get over all this "number" stuff soon though because Nik is starting high school and since we educate at home, I am the one who will be teaching him all of his math. Now, don't get me wrong...I can do the math, I just don't like to! Just like I hate dealing with filing our taxes and dealing with term insurance, I hate to do Algebra, long division, multiplication...and yes, I hate subtraction! lol!! I'll just have to take a deep breath and go forth. I'll try not to show my dislike of math too much...though it will be really hard! There are local tutors and classes so I may look into that too. It will all be ok....
Wish me luck!

Fat Books

Nik has recently finished Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini. I am so impressed with Nik..have you seen these books?? They are what I call "Fat Books"....no, these are "Fat Honkin' Books!"....they are huge! It would take me a gazillion years to get through these...really, it would! I usually have to stick with the "skinny books"...but not Nik...he's a super reader and I think that's great!

Shrimp Dance Deux
Well, Nik’s at it again….”shrimp dancing”! We just can’t get this kid to stop! Whenever we mention shrimp….baby fried shrimp, shrimp scampi, BBQ shrimp, shrimp cocktail, shrimp toast….he jumps up and starts to dance. We’re planning on taking him out to eat and ordering him some shrimp…just to capture him “shrimp dancing” in public…then again, maybe that’s just asking for an arrest by our local police…it would be worth it though, don’t you think?!

Let's Play a Game of Chess!
Nik got into chess at home-school coop a few years ago and likes to challenge his dad to a game any chance he gets. He would proably play a lot more if he had someone to play with.
Now, I’ve seen movies where the characters play chess through the mail. They send their move to each other and games take weeks, months or years. That would not do for “got to have it now” Nik. This correspondence chess site is exactly what he needs! Basically, this site is just like those games played through the mail, however, now e-mail is used. You can also play realtime if your opponent is online at the time.
Nik could play with people around the world every day. I think this is great, why didn’t someone think of this sooner?! Neat!
