I really think that ants and bees are neat little critters. Belle and I studied bees last year and had a great time. She was thrilled to see the big fat bumblebees this spring!
Now ants, I don’t know a lot about them but I do think they are very hard workers like the bees. One of my favorite verses from the Bible talks of ants and their wise ways:
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest” (Proverbs 6:6-9).
There are a lot of good lessons for us just in that one verse!
Even though ants are “wise”, I really want them to stay outside and out of the way of little stomping feet that squish down their mounds. I hate to see mounds squished because I know that the ants have worked so hard!
However, if you have those mean and aggressive ants then you probably need some fireant control! We have never had a problem with fireants before but if they decide to set up home here on the hill that will not be good. They are aggressive and the sting! I may think ants are neat but I just happen to think my children are neater!!
