Appreciative Coaching

There’s a new book on the shelves! Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process For Change co-authored by Sara Orem, PhD.

This book suggests that people and organizations do much better if they focus on the ideas of the individuals, their achievements and their best work methods. Appreciative Coaching uses several tools to encourage positive changes. Positive questioning and mindfulness are two of the tools that are discussed.

Instead of focusing on the problems that individuals have, this book suggests that the coaches take the individual through four stages…Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny. Walking these individuals through these four stages will help them see themselves and their future in a positive way.

Sara Orem, is a faculty member at Capella University. Capella is an accredited university offering online education. This online university offers quite a few graduate degree and bachelor degree programs. Dr. Orem co-wrote this book with Jacqueline Binkert, PhD, and Ann Clancy, PhD.
